Marion businessman Services planned Tuesday for Owen E. Stotlar, 81 Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Wilson Funeral Home in Marion for Owen E. Stotlar of Marion. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Marion Memorial Hospital. Mr. Stotlar, 81, died at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 1984, in Marion Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 2, 1903, in Marion, to E.M. and Lydia Owen Stotlar. He married Mary McLaren Feb. 26, 1927 She died Aug. 30, 1977. He was secretary-treasurer of the Stotlar-Herrin Lumber Co. and was associated in the family business with Fred and Diehard Stotlar of Marion. He was a graduate of Marion High School, where he was a starting member of the 1921 state championship basketball team, and of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He was a lifetime member of the Marion Elks Lodge 800 and the Illinois Lumberman Association. Survivors include one daughter, Emily Stotlar of Marion, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. A.M. and Esther Baker of Marion; two nephews, Dr. Joseph McAlpin and William Baker, both of Marion, and two nieces, Edith McGuire of El Paso, Texas, and Barbara Amberg of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents.
