JAN KVITEK
(1844 - 1924)

RESIDENT OF CO. 60 YEARS PASSES AWAY

Six grandsons officiated as pallbearers at the funeral of "Grandpa" John Kvitek, pioneer resident of Manitowoc Co., who was buried from Greenstreet Catholic Church, the Rev. Rous officiating at the services which were largely attended by friends and neighbors.

Mr. Kvitek, who had been confined to his bed for nearly nine months and whose death was due to infirmities of age, was a native of Bohemia, born April 14, 1844, being 80 at his death. He came to America when 20 years of age and located at Kellnersville, this county, later purchasing a farm at Cooperstown where he continued his residence up to time of his death.

He is survived by his aged widow and five children, John, Matthew and Joseph and Mrs. Mary Fogeltance of Maribel and Mfrs. Anna Spurney of Menchalville; two brothers, Martin Kvitek of Maribel and Joseph Weisner of Menchalsville and seventeen grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers at the funeral were Edwin and Frank Fogeltance, Edwin, William and Frank Kvitek and Edward Spurney.
