Archie Joseph Sams Sr., age 80 of Rogers, Arkansas died January 23, 1994 at his home in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born August 5, 1912 at Murray, Arkansas the son of Robert Allen and Sarah K. (Ponder) Sams.
He was a retired chicken processor, a resident of Rogers, Arkansas and a prior resident of Newton County. He was a member of the Shiloh Church. Mr. Sams was baptized into the United Baptist Church of Shiloh, Arkansas in 1928 and Ordained a Deacon of the Church a short time later. He married Dorothy Elizabeth (Reynolds) Sams on February 10, 1934.
Survivors included his wife Dorothy Elizabeth (Reynolds) Sams of Rogers, Arkansas; two sons Orvid Eugene Sams of Kansas City, Missouri and Joe Cephues of Anderson, Missouri; four daughters Ovie Hubert of Compton, Arkansas, Modena Wise of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Eunice Laughter of Lowell, Arkansas, Billie Jean Chapman of Rogers, Arkansas; one brother Beecher Sams of Mossville, Arkansas; three sisters Ottis Biggs of Harrison, Arkansas, Gracie Martin of Shawnee, Kansas, Esgolee Martin of Basehor, Kansas; 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons and one daughter.
Services were January 26, 1993 at the Shiloh Church at Shiloh, Arkansas with Rev. Verl Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Jerry King, Brian King, Gerald King, Gerald Daniels, Clinton Daniels, and Robert Bottoms.
Honorary pallbearers included David Finical and Jack Willis.
