MSG Donald Hutton was a decorated WWII veteran with two Purple Hearts and the DFC. He was a crew member of a bomber shot down over Germany, and spent two years as a POW. After the war, he worked in the oil industry, much of the time living overseas. His wife, Marjorie, passed away in 2009 and is also interred in this cemetery.

Donald E. Hutton, of Indian Wells, Calif., died December 31, 2012, at the age of 93. During WWII, he served in the 92nd Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, working as a Ball Turret Gunner and Top Turret Gunner on a B-17 Bomber. After flying more than thirty bombing raids over Germany, he was shot down over Krems, Austria in May of 1943, eventually being held as a POW for the remainder of the war. Don and his beloved wife Marjorie lived for many years in Indian Wells, Calif., where they purchased and restored the Cavanaugh House, now registered as a California Historical Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, and a brother. He is survived by three nephews, Michael Monahan, Alan Hutton, and David Johnson Jr. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Desert Springs Church on March 16, 2013 at 1:00pm, located at 43435 Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert, Calif. All Air Force veterans of the WWII European Theater are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Don's favorite charities, The Salvation Army and/or The Humane Society.
