Lowell Neal "Shorty" Long, age 89, of Archbold, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, February 7, 2013 at the Marion, Indiana VA Medical Center. After serving with the U.S. Army during WWII, he re-enlisted and became sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, where he was seriously injured in a missile attack while serving with the 7th Cav. Div. Regimental Infantry in the North Korea Sector.

Lowell was born in Paulding County, Ohio on September 11, 1923, the son of Charles and Zelma (Fitzwater) Long. He was a graduate of Tiffin University, and was a member of the Stryker American Legion Post, the Archbold United Methodist Church, the DAV and the VFW. He was a graduate of Tiffin University.
There are no immediate survivors.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Rice, Ohio.
His brother Arthur Long preceded him in death.
