Jerry F. BENEDUM
POQUOSON - Jerry F. Benedum, 73, a Poquoson resident for 32 years, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011.
He retired as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force after 24 years, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He later retired from Civil Service at the Naval Weapons Station after 14 years, and also worked at James River Country Club, Newport News for 12 years. Jerry loved golf, and was an avid UVA fan.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Jo Benedum; son, Jerry Benedum II; and stepson, Billie "Boo" Taylor.
He is survived by two daughters, Michele Knueppel (Jim) and Pamela Taylor; a son, Bob Taylor (Lu Ann); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and best friend, his dog Hope.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Hampton, by the Rev. Milford C. Rollins with full military honors.
