Fred E. Barta was born on March 6, 1883 at Manitowoc, Wis., the son of Frank J. Barta and Katherine Krainik Barta, died suddenly at his West Point home at 3 p.m., on October 23. He made his home in Manitowoc until the age of 20, when he came to Lodi to visit relatives. He liked the community so well that he stayed.
Mr. Barta Married Annie Zoelner on February 22, 1905. Two children were born to this union, Catherine, Mrs. Lester Madison, Lodi, and Dorothy, a student nurse at Milwaukee hospital. His wife died at the time Dorothy was born in 1923. Mr. Barta continued farming while the children were being cared for by their grandmother, Mrs. Frank Barta in Manitowoc.
In 1925 [December 23] Fred was married to Marjorie L. McKenzie of Mazomanie.
