US Congressman. A graduate of Lewisburg University (now called Bucknell), he was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1862. Not long after he joined the Union war effort, receiving a commission first of Captain in the 18th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry, then as Captain in the 7th Pennsylvania Reserves. After the war he built his law practice, and served in the Pennsylvania State Senate. In 1890 he was elected to represent Pennsylvania's 17th District in the United States House of Representatives, filling the seat vacated by Congressman Charles R. Buckalew. He served from March 4, 1891 to March 3, 1895, and was not a candidate for re-election. He resumed his law practice, and died in his hometown of Sudbury, Pennsylvania in 1910.
