Rule Newton Woman Died From Burns
The death in Chicago Tuesday of a 52-year-old Newton woman, Mrs. Irene Macek,
was ruled accidental by burns suffered in the apartment of her daughter last
Nov. 25.
The finding was announced today by Dr. Andrew J. Toman, Cook County Coroner,
who said the routine inquest into the death—mandatory under Illinois law—was
held by a member of his staff at a Chicago funeral home this morning.
Mrs. Macek suffered the burns when her clothing caught fire as she was standing
near a gas heater in the southside residence of her daughter, (name omitted for
privacy), a registered nurse, whom she had been visiting.
Mrs. Macek had been confined to Roseland Community Hospital since the accident.
Following the inquest the body was released to the Leschke-Bergner Funeral Home
