Michael Benzschawel, 78, retired municipal employee, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been just admitted as a patient. He had been in ill health for several years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville.
The Rev. William Koutnik will officiate and burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Whitelaw.
Benzschawel was born July 19, 1875 in Germany and came to the United States when seven with his parents. He married Helen Gosz who died 41
years ago and in 1926 married Helen VanDomelen of Appleton. She died in 1950. Since that time he had been residing with a son, Paul, at Reedsville.
He was employed by the city of Appleton, where he lived for many years, until his retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Paul of Reedsville and George of Manitowoc; three step-sons, William and Jake VanDomelen of Green Bay and George VanDomelen of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two step daughters, Sister Jeanette of
Milwaukee and Sister Lillian of Racine; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
