He was born November 27, 1916, in the Township of Cato, Manitowoc County, son of the late George W. and Clara Kuehnl Braun. He grew up in the Township of Cato and was educated at St. Michaels Catholic School, Whitelaw. He farmed from 1946 until his retirement in 1979. Leonard was known for his baking of all kinds of cookies and pies and he enjoyed donating them to other people. He married Mary Dvorachek, May 8, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic church, Reedsville. She preceded him in death on January 7, 1975. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic church, St. Michaels Holy Name Society and a former member of the St. Michaels Cemetery Association. Leonard served on the Board of Directors for many years of the Whitelaw Co-op.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Kathryn Waite Braun, Cato; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carolyn and Michael McConnell, Racine, Jeanette Braun, Milwaukee, Bernice and Richard Pollen, Manitowoc, Mary Ann and Raymond Meismer, Washburn, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Rhonda, Travis and Carmen Braun, Haley Pollen, David, Jessica and Thomas Meismer; one sister-in-law, Louise Braun, Cato. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Reinhold and two sisters, Mayme Vogel and Georgianna Braun; three n ephews, James Braun, Dennis Braun and Robert Vogel.
Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Father Heymen will pray the rosary at 7 p.m.
