Paul was the son of Verdine and Elsa (Zech) Gillette. He graduated from Holland High School, and attended Hope College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in Guam. He worked for Holland Furnace, Bohn Aluminum, and retired from Hart and Cooley Manufacturing Plant after 38 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakeshore area, and died from complications due to Alzheimers Disease. He is survived by a sister, Majorie Gillette, and nieces and nephews. His parents, half-brothers Gillette and Earl, and half-sister Gilletta (Lawrence) all preceded him in death.
