She was reared by quite wealthy parents who gave her such advantages as well fitted her to fill with efficiency and dignity her sphere in life. She was always very frail from childhood and yet lived long to bless her family and the world.
She had many trials, and upon her trusting heart the Master placed some heavy burdens - heaviest of all was the tragic death of her husband, in 1855, caused by the accidental discharge of his gun in his own hands.
Under all these trials and burdens, her strong Christian faith was exhibited by her womanly courage and patience, and when old and stricken in years, surrounded by devoted ones in a distant state, with a clear mind and in full consciousness of her approaching end, she was fully ready to depart. She has gone we believe, to a better destiny, and we bid her a loving farewell.
She leaves 4 children, Mr. Thomas Paulk, Mrs. Robert Smith, and Mrs. W.C. Smith all of Farmersville, TX and Mr. D.J. Paulk who still lives near Union Springs, AL.
