Roger Raymond Handy Jr. 77, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Tuesday November 7, 2007 at the home of his son Bill Handy, he was born May 28, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, he formerly lived in St. Joseph prior to moving to Topeka with his family. Roger retired from Safeway stores after 41 years of service, he then worked at Silver Dollar City, at Branson, Mo for 10 years. he was a Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion post #637 of Table Rock Lake, #359 of St. Joseph, MO. the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles Aries #49 all of St. Joseph, he was also a member of the knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, woodworking and jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church, in Kimberling City, MO. Roger was preceded in death by his wife Nedra in February 2007, his father Roger R. Handy Sr., step father and mother Henry and Violet Pratt, and a brother John Henry Handy. He is survived by sons Kenneth Handy and wife Cindy, Topeka, Jack Handy and wife Janice, St. Joseph, Stephen Handy and wife Sonya, Bill Handy and wife Jennifer all of Topeka, and daughters Jean Robinson and husband Steve, Joyce Handy and companion Garvin Wright all of St. Joseph. 22 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, at the Rupp Funeral Home. The interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military graveside service under the direction of the American Legion Post #359. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer society.
