Mr. Walter J. "Bootsy" Abbott of Port Vincent, Louisiana, died Friday, march 1, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. He was 75 years old. Mr. Abbott was a cattleman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an avid Louisiana State University and New Orleans Saint fan. He was of the Catholic faith. He was the son of the late William "Billy" and Elaine Abbott.

Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife: Lorraine (Persac) Abbott; 1 grandson: Paul Abbott; and 1 nephew: Brett Brady.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Jennifer Guitreau and Lawrence and Barbara Lambert and Terry; sons and their wives, Jeffrey Abbott and Cindy, Johnnie Abbott and Terrie, Walter "Simon" Abbott, and Wayne Abbott and Barbara; sisters and their husbands, Carolyn Brady and Gary, Fabian "Fay" Brady and Robert "Shorty", Cheryl "Cherry" Elmore and Mike, Rosemary Barnett and John, Nancy Buratt and Steve, and Julie Chutz; brothers and their wives, Lynwood Abbott and Maynell, William "Bill" Abbott, Jr. and Carol Jean, and John Abbott and Nancy; brother in law, S.J. Persac and wife Dorothy; sister in law, Earline Persac; grandchildren, Dallas and husband Curtis, Ryan, Jonathan, Ashleigh and husband Patrick, Katlyn, Stephanie, Evan, and Brett and Bryan and their mother, Missy; honorary grandchildren, Chase and Victor; great grandchildren, Cole and wife, Shasta, Andrew, Alexis, Erin, and Luke; and many dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Joseph Church on Monday morning, March 4, 2013.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
