He was born August 3. 1924 at St. Nazianz. He was the son of the late Rudolph and Wilhelminia Quante Christel.
Mr. Christel was employed with the County of Manitowoc, until his retirement in 1987. He was a retired charter member of the St. Nazianz Fire Department. He was a life-time member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society. He served in the U.S. Army during the WWII. He was a member of the American Legion - St Nazianz Post. Mr. Christel actively pursued, an interest in steam and gasoline engines and tractors.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne M. (Christel) Rose and Mark Rose, of Monona Wl; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Christel, of St Nazianz; two nieces, Debby Hermann and Kathy Schleis; three nephews, Randy, Rick and Bob Chrisel; four great-nephews and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 1989, 11 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church located in . St. Nazianz, Wl. Officiating will be the Rev. Cletus LaMere with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Friends may call Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Pfeffer Funeral Home assisted the family in funeral arrangements.
