"Charles Emory, son of Hiram and Kathrine (sic) Eshleman was born at Fairfield, Penn., on Mar. 4, 1867. At the age of 16 he moved with his family to Sheffield, Ill., where he grew to manhood. On Sept. 8, 1892, he was united in marriage the Rebecca Ann Wright. To this union six children were born: Everett, who died in infancy; Ethel (Mrs. Leo Wakeman); Annie (Mrs. Irvine Peck); Jake; Mable (Mrs. John Rudkin); and Marietta (Mrs. Ray Hoff).
In 1907 he, with his family, moved to Wisconsin and lived in the eastern part of Monroe county until 1915, when they moved to Farmers Valley. His eyesight and health failing him about four years ago, he and his wife moved to Sparta and have made their home in an apartment in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Wakeman, ever since. His health continued to fail, so that he was very poorly for the last four months, and on Friday evening, August 16, he suffered a stroke from which he never regained full consciousness. He passed away at 4:30 Tuesday, August 20.
He leaves to mourn his passing his family, one sister, Mrs. Angie Anderson of Atkinson, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews. His parents, four brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funderal services were held from the Plummer Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Charles Whitney of Norwalk officiating. Internment was made in Woodlawn cemetery."
