DANIEL F. TISLER
(1923 - 1949)

Farmer Killed in Freak Accident
Tisler Electrocuted on Whitelaw Farm.

Daniel Tisler, 25, Whitelaw farmer, was electrocuted late Thursday afternoon in a freak accident on his father's farm two miles west of the village of Whitelaw.

Tisler and his father, Andrew, were engaged in blasting rocks in the garden at the front of the Tisler farm. They set the charge and then retreated down the highway to warn traffic. The charge let go and a rock severed a 7,200 volt power line running past the farm. The broken line landed on a wire fence and although sparks shot from the contact the younger Tisler jumped over the fence. He received the full force of the charge. The father pulled his son from the wires and carried him into the home, summoning Dr. E. C. Cary of Reedsville. When the latter arrived, the victim was dead.

Also called were Sheriff Clarence Bayrenbruch and Coroner Theodore Teitgen, who made the run to the Tisler farm with an inhalator in 12 minutes, but found the farmer had died. The coroner announced there would be no inquest.

Funeral services for Mr. Tisler, a veteran of World War II, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Reedsville Cooperative Funeral Home and at 10 o'clock at St. Augustine Catholic church, Reifs Mills, the Rev. Joseph Rauch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was born on the Tisler farm in 1923 and joined his father Andrew in operation of the farm. He was inducted into the army in the last war and served 19 months overseas in Germany and Austria. In 1948, he married Bernice Baroun.

Survivors are his wife; father, Andrew; two brothers, Victor of Whitelaw and Edward of Route 4, Manitowoc.

The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Sunday evening.
