Helen West Stone, a retired Portland real estate broker and a daughter of the late Oregon Gov. Oswald West, died Tuesday in a Portland convalescent hospital. She was 83.
Mrs. Stone was in the real estate business in Portland for 30 years after World War II, specializing in properties on Portland Heights. She served on the Oregon Real Estate Board in 1975-76 and was a past member of the Portland Board of Realtors.
Born in Astoria, she spend part of her childhood in Salem while her father was governor and later in Portland where he practiced law. She was graduated from Lincoln High School and in 1924 from Mills College in Oakland, Calif.
She ws a member of the board of the Portland Symphony Orchestra in the 1930s and belonged to the Town Club and the Portland Junior League.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Kelley and Sally McLaughlin, both of Portland; her sister, Jean McHugh, Portland; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Disposition will be by cremation.
