ROCK FALLS - Oscar E. Anderson Jr., 88, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1925, in Abingdon, the son of Oscar E. and Alta May (Alexander) Anderson Sr. He married Alberta Henson on June 5, 1946,
in Carrollton. She died in December 1968. He was employed as a reeler at the PA plant of Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Rock Falls, retiring after 30 years in 1980.
His survivors include two sons, Emmett (Linda) Anderson of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Ernest (Crystal) Anderson of Rock Falls; one brother, Allen Crotts of Rock Falls; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Calvin Reynolds, pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock River Christian Center Food Pantry and PADS.
