Richard was the fourth child born to John H. and Margaret Bradford Cawley and brother to Viola, Margaret (Moffat), William, Thomas and Agnes and Gwendolyn who died age 7. He also had 3 1/2 brothers and 3 1/2 sisters from his father's first marriage to Anna Belle Telfer.
Richard married Mary Frances Brennan of Springfield, 18 Aug 1936 in Festus, Jefferson, Missouri. An electrical draftsman, he worked over 22 years for Sangamo Electric and became the head draftsman by 1940.
He and Mary were the parents of 3 daughters: Katherine, Janice who passed in 2010, Judith and one son Richard who passed in 1991.
He was affectionately known as uncle Dick to his nieces and nephews. Richard is buried beside the love of his life.
