Richard A. Borchardt, age 85, of 420 s. 31st St., Manitowoc, died Thursday evening, March 10, 1994, at North Ridge Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum.
He was born May 25, 1908, at Wayside, Wisconsin, son of the late Albert and Paulina Lemke Borchardt. He grew up and was educated at Wayside, moving to Manitowoc in 1930. He worked for the Stephani-Strupp Oil Company from 1930 until World War II. During World War II he worked for the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company. After World War II he became the owner of the Stephani-Strupp Oil Company until his retirement in 1983.
He married Arleen V. Erickson July 30, 1932, at Green Bay, Wis. He is a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and a member of the Manitowoc Senior Citizen Center.
Survivors include his wife, Arleen; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Susan Borchardt, Fountain Valley, Calif., Gerald Borchardt, Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Rudolph and Melinda Borchardt, Omro, Wisconsin. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Memorials would be appreciated for Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Friends may call at Reinbold Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and Monday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
