From the French Broad News, March 4, 1909:
Amos Stackhouse, Sr., of Stackhouse, N.C., who departed this life on the 27th of February, 1909. He leaves a widow and two sons, Amos Jr., and Charley Stackhouse, both of Stackhouse, N.C., and other children whose names we do not know, who reside in Philadelphia, to mourn his loss.
Mr. Stackhouse came with a colony from Philadelphia before the Civil War and located at Hot Springs, and later moved to Stackhouse. He was 96 years at the time of his death.
