AGED NEWTON PIONEER WAS NEARLY 90
Ignatz Shemanski, one of the oldest if not the oldest pioneer residents
of Newton, died yesterday at the home of his son Frank Shemanski at the
advanced age of 88 years. Mr. Shemanski was born at Dresden, Germany and
came to America in ? locating at Chicago for a few months and then coming
to Manitowoc county and was employed in the building of the old Lake Shore
railway line. Later he purchased a farm on the Green Bay road, disposing
of the property seventeen years ago to ? and taking up his home with his
son Frank Shemanski who established a ? on the Green Bay road.
Mr. Shemanski is survived by his second wife, having been twice married.
Three children, Mrs. Anton ?, Mrs. Frank Po?orski and Frank Shemanski also
survive. There are two grandchildren, Edward Kousavage? And ? Poyorski,
Newton. The funeral will be held at Nordheim Saturday morning at 9, Rev.
Gradd officiating.
