A Sad Case

Mrs. Melissa Hollister of Boydtown, Crawford County, died at her home on the 19th, aged eighteen years, after a married life of but one month. She had been sickly for some time having had measles in early spring. A week before death she became the mother of a pair of twins, both of whom died at once, and she never rallied from the attack. Suspicious circumstances were not lacking in connection with her decease, and in consequence Frank Silvers and Louis Wayne, neighbors, made complaint before Justice Dan Seely of Wauzeka. He impanneled a coroner's jury, which held an inquest on Thursday at the hour set for the funeral ceremony. The verdict returned was "death by abortion at the hands of parties unknown." The judicial proceedings caused a postponement of the funeral, and made necessary the interment of the remains at her home in Boydtown instead of this city as was at first proposed.
The details of this lamentable affair will be seen in a card over the signature of Dr. Carley, elsewhere in this paper, and we will close this chapter of woman's fatal weakness and man's inhumanity by the statement that no further official action has been taken, nor is it probable that any will be.

Story taken from the Boscobel Dial dated June 28, 1888. There was no further statement by Dr. Carley as stated there would be. This crime against this young lady went unjustly investigated and unpunished. Seems to be that someone got away with murder. Undetermined that Melissa is buried here as well as her twin children as there is also no headstones. Until determined she is placed in this cemetery. Death under aut Mutius
