Marion A. Cherney, age 86, of 7205 N. Union Road, Manitowoc, died on Monday, June 4, 2007, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
She was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Furlong) Barta. Marion attended St. Joseph Grade School in Silver Lake. On July 14, 1943, she married Lloyd A. Cherney at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 1998. Marion retired in 1983 from Imperial Clevite after 17 years of service. She was a member of the Whitelaw-Cato-Branch-Senior Citizens and the Manitowoc Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Francis, Charles, Donald and Raymond; and four sisters-in-law: Erna and Agnes Barta, Lola Stahl; and Mabel Tuschl.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Zimmerman, with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2007. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., led by Deacon Tom Koch. Friends may also call on Friday morning at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
