He was the son of John Franklin Hein (b. 2 May 1880-Westmoreland, PA, d. 27 Feb 1952-Marion, WV) & Dora Imbody (b.? - 1919. He had 4 siblings: 1 brother & 1 sister brothers: Dennis Heinz (b. 1943) & Jefferey (b. 1956)

Per his daughter, " Chardon, Geauga, Ohio, United States of America My dad, (Red) passed away June 1, 1978 of Black Lung disease probably from working in the coal mines half of his life.
