James J Wright was the son of Lorenzo Dow Wright and Elizabeth Lucinda Hill. His siblings were: John E Wright, William Wright, Arkada Wright, Francis Marion Wright, Nancy Wright and George H Wright.

He married Mary Jane Ayler, daughter of Anthony Ayler and Anna S Hill, on 14 Sept 1865 in Wayne Co TN. James and Mary Jane had the following children: Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Wright, William Anthony "Bill" Wright, Johnathan Wayne "Sharper" Wright, John Wright (twin to Johnathan), George C Wright, James R Wright (buried at this cemetery), Mary Deona Wright (buried at this cemetery), Francis Marion Wright, and Joseph Franklin "Joe" Wright.

James J Wright served in the Civil War and enlisted 1 March 1865 in Clifton, TN and was discharged 1 Sept 1865 in Nashville TN. He was a Private and belonged to the 8th TN Vol Infantry, Co E, Union side. He drew a Pension from his service in the Civil War and after his death his widow, Mary Jane, also drew from his Pension. On Mary Jane's death certificate, it states she is buried at Hayes Cemetery. She was b 23 Oct 1848 in Franklin Co AL d, 13 July 1938 in Cypress Inn, Wayne Co TN.If she is buried at Hayes cemetery, then she is buried in an unmarked grave, but some researchers believe she is buried at Darby Cemetery next to James in an unmarked grave.
