WILFRED (WILLIE) DENK

Wilfred (Willie) Denk, 51, of Francis Creek, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 26, at his family residence after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 9:45 am Monday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc, Rev. Donald Schneider and Rev. John Haen concelebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Chapel Masoleum.

Mr. Denk was born October 19, 1934 at Whitelaw, son of Mrs. Caroline Gresl Denk and the late Harvey Denk. He graduated from Lincoln High School of Manitowoc, with the Class of 1952. He attended a number of occupational schools in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. He married the former Shirley May Hill on August 17, 1954 at Whitelaw.

He was employed at the Weyerhauser Company for 28 years, serving most of that time as a plant foreman until illness caused his retirement on June 24, 1981. He then moved to Francis Creek where the Denk’s own and operate Shirley’s Hilltop Haven. Mr. Denk was president of the Francis Creek Lions Club at the present time and was also a member of Francis Creek Sportsman Club.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his mother, Caroline Denk of Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law, Technical Sargeant Russell and Cheryl Denk, stationed in Hawaii with the United States Air Force; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Cheryl and Jim Kautzer of Manitowoc, Lea Kiel of Manitowoc, Renee Denk of Francis Creek and Diana and Dallas Elliott of Francis Creek; four grandchildren, Mike and Kristy Denk of Hawaii, Cassie Kautzer of Manitowoc and Tyler Denk of Francis Creek; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and LaVern Denk of Two Rivers and Dennis and Marion Denk of Manitowoc; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Orville Radandt of Omro and Audrey and Leroy Christiansen of Clover, nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts and other relatives and friends also survived.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey, an uncle, Ervin Denk; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Margaret Hill.

Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, from 5 pm to 9 pm on Sunday afternoon and Monday until the time of services. Francis Creek Lions Club members will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 pm Sunday. A prayer service will be held at 7 pm on Sunday evening by Father Schneider.
