William C. Patton, a prominent and popular citizen of this county, died suddenly at 2 o'clock p.m., Monday, September 22nd, at his home near Shackle Island. His death resulted from heart failure and came as a shock to his relatives and many friends. The deceased was born and reared in the 6th civil district near Goodlettsville and was 68 years of age. He married Miss Hattie Joyner, also of that district, and of this union eleven children survive as follows: One son, Roy Patton, and ten daughters, Mrs. Roger Ralph, Mrs. Will Gray, Mrs. Luther M. Taylor, Mrs. Porter Williamson, Misses Eunice, Willie, Vitura, Margaret, Lillie and Thomas Patton. Mr. Patton was an excellent citizen of the very highest type and throughout his life had enjoyed the confidence and esteem of the entire community. He had been an elder in the Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years. Funeral services were conducted at Beech Church at 11 o'clock a.m. Tuesday by Rev. G. C. Danley, assisted by Rev. W. W. Suddarth. The burial followed at Beech Cemetery. A large assembly present and many beautiful floral offerings attested the wide popularity of the deceased.
