Deceased Name: Jean E. Mathna

Jean E. Mathna, 85, a resident of the Orrstown Personal Care Home, died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at the home.

Born on March 5, 1926, in Newburg, a daughter of the late Wilmot and Grace Martin Mowery.

On April 6, 1946, Jean married Mr. Bruce M. Mathna at the Orrstown United Brethren Church. He preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 2004.

Jean retired from the former L'Aiglon Company, in 1962, where she worked as a presser.

She was a member of the Mongul United Brethren Church and its Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Jean liked to crochet, camp, and travel, especially to Williamsburg, Va., where she and Bruce took many trips with their grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were her life.

Jean is survived by her three sons, Dennis R. (Margie) Mathna, Larry L. (Victoria) Mathna and Robert B. (Karin) Mathna, all of Shippensburg; one brother, John Mowery of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren, Robert B. Mathna Jr., Dana E. Mathna, Erin E. Chavez, Rose A. Perkins, Beth A. Perkins, Lynn Adkins and Stephanie A. Kern; one step grandson, Steven Kinley Jr.; 12 great grandchildren, Bailey, Noah and Nova Chavez, Crystal Mathna, Ashley Mathna, Kyle and Colton Watson, Kaden Burnett, Madlyn Stout, Jaycen Mathna, and Ryan and Lincoln Kern; two step great grandsons, Travis and Keith Islas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter, Kathy Ann.

Her funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at the Mongul United Brethren Church. Pastor Rocky W. Spear will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the services at church on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mongul United Brethren Church at 4162 Roxbury Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
