Roderick "Rod" Lamar Duckworth, 79, of Lynchburg, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008. He was the husband of the late Joan Beasley Duckworth.
Mr. Duckworth was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Fayetteville, N.C., a son of the late Paul C. Duckworth and Elizabeth M. Duckworth. He was a retired vice president with Sovran Bank and attended Rivermont Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by a son, Mark S. Duckworth and his wife, Carol, of Midlothian; a daughter, Ann C. Duckworth of Decatur, Ga.; a son, Robert W. Duckworth and his wife, Charlene, of Ashburn; four grandchildren, Charles, Parker, Elizabeth and Michael Duckworth; and a sister, Nancy D. McGee of Winston-Salem, N.C.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
