HAROLD ELFNER

Harold G. "Red" Elfner, age 85, of 1010 Koeppel Lane, Manitowoc, died on Sunday morning, Feb. 3, 2008, at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers.

Red was born on Sept. 16, 1922, in Lena, Wis., son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Nequette) Elfner. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1940. On April 2, 1965, Red married Carol Blank in Galena, Ill. He was employed with Paragon Manufacturing Company for 42 years as a shipping supervisor. Red enjoyed playing softball and bowling, and he liked to watch football. He was inducted into the Kenny's Softball Hall of Fame in Manitowoc.

He was also preceded in death by one infant son; one son: Marc; two brothers: Russell and Raymond Elfner; and two sisters: Marguerite "Maggie" Cherney and Carol Markham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Barbara F. Ristow, with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Red's name. The Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and Intensive Care Unit at Aurora Hospital, Dr. C. Thayer, Aurora Hospice and the staff at Hamilton Home for their care and compassion shown toward Red and his family.
