Darlene A. 'Dolly' Cullen, 80

ROCKFORD -- Darlene A. 'Dolly Cullen, 80, of Rockford, died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born Nov. 16, 1925, in Dixon, the daughter of Benhart and Rachel Knopp Dogwiler. Lived the last 35 years in Rockford. Graduated from Berlin (Wis.) High School. Married William K. Cullen in Dixon on May 31, 1947. Employed as an administrative assistant for Singer Zone Mental Health Center for 13 years, retiring in 1986. Member of St. Anskar Episcopal Church in Dixon. Volunteer Pink Lady at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. She had spent six months of the year in Fort Myers, Fla., for many years, where she thoroughly enjoyed her time and many friends there. Dolly was a lady of grace and dignity. She loved everyone she came in contact with and was always comfortable with everyone and made them comfortable with her. Survivors include here son, Craig L. (Peggy) Cullen of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Kaye M. (Andrew) Yowell of Rockford; grandchildren Jodi Yowell, Carrie Bass, Adam (Lindsay Yowell and Ginger (Adrian) Lin; great-grandchildren, Aimee and Taylor Bass; brother Don (Sherry) Dogwiler; and very special friend, Ken Wechsler of Concord, Calif. Predeceased by her husband on May 12, 1999; brother, Richard Dogwiler; and her parents.
Service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, in St. Anskar Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Andrea Wight officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNA Hospice.
