Dr. Hazel Maree Heisig, born Sept. 9, 1898 at Rock Valley passed away on October 9, 1939 at Des Moines, Ia. Death was due to plural Effusion.

Miss Heisig grew to womanhood in our midst, graduated from the Rock Valley High school in 1915, taught two years, entered the Iowa Methodist hospital at Des Moines in 1917 for nurses training. She served as a nurse for 22 years.

She was one time in the service of the Dodge Brothers Hospital in Detroit, Mich. She returned to the hospital in Des Moines as Supervisor of Nurses and served there to the end.

She leaves to commemorate her life of service het mother, Mrs. F.J. Heisig, one brother, Elmer Heisig of Morristown, S.D. and seven sisters, Dr. Marie J. Rader, Lena, Ill.; Ida, Mrs. G.W. Kessler, Ames, Iowa; Anna, Mrs. W.A. Brooke, Tucson, Ariz,; Evelyn, Mrs. Wm. Bennan, Renwick, Ia.; Stella, Mrs. Lee Schlecty; Gladys, Mrs. Louis Elberts, both of Rock Valley, Lorraine, Mrs. W.R. Whiteis of Iowa City.

Funeral services were held at the Heisig home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. J.A. Settle officiated. “My Task" was sung by Mrs. Vander Ploeg and "Crossing the Bar" was sung by the following women’s quartet: Mrs. L.R. Hegg, Mrs. J. Vander Ploeg, Mrs. J.A. Kettle and Mrs. O. Manning.
These were favorites chosen by the deceased.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred J. Heisig and two sisters.

The pall bearers were Harley Scanlan, Earle Hayden, H. PJ. Long, W. B. Hansen, Stanley McKeegan and Cornie Rozeboom.

Those in attendance from a distance were Miss Evelyn De Preu, Miss Mable Kenyon, and L. J. Adelman of Des Moines, Miss Betty Beenan of Ames and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Meyer of Aberdeen, S. D.
