Mrs. Ruth A. Freiboth, 91, currently residing at Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died August 9, 2009, at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2426 North Rapids Road, Manitowoc with the Rev. Thomas Pankow officiating. Burial will be at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Relatives and friends may call at the church from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m.

Ruth was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Rib Lake, Wis., the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Knop) Kalk. On Dec. 23, 1917, at St. John Lutheran church, Ruth was made a child of God through the washing of Holy Baptism. She reaffirmed her faith in Christ at her confirmation on May 24, 1931. She attended Fawn Valley School and graduated as valedictorian from Rib Lake High School in 1935. Upon graduation, Ruth attended the County Normal School and became a school teacher in a one-room rural school from 1938-1940. On Aug. 30, 1941, Ruth married Clarence H. Freiboth. They were married 68 years and had three children. In addition to raising her children, Ruth worked at various local retailers in Manitowoc. She was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran church and served over sixty years in the Grace Circle ladies Group. Clarence and Ruth spent many of their retirement years traveling and enjoyed many summers at their cottage at Chaudoir's Dock, Door Co., Wis. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law; Fred (Hilda) Freiboth; sister, Hazel Krause; brother, Marvin Kalk; sisters-in-law: Myrtle Freiboth, Viola Chapman and Pearl Freiboth; brothers-in-law: Fred Freiboth Jr., Elmer Freiboth, Arthur Freiboth, Al Dubicki, William Chapman, Milton Kubichek, Robert Luedtke and William Krause.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Grace Ev. Lutheran church. Jens Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

A special thank you to the 3rd floor nurses at Aurora Medical Center and the Visiting Nurses Association hospice program for their care and comfort to Ruth.
