Ruby L. Peterson, age 90, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Pine Crest Village.

She was born in Sevastopol on Jan. 1, 1917, to William and Elsie (Herrbold) Sperber. Ruby was a graduate of Sevastopol High School. On June 3, 1939, she married Walter Peterson in Valmy. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ruby was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She was active in the Ladies Circle and the Ladies Aid. Ruby earned an Honorary Life Membership award from the Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years of volunteer service.

Ruby is survived by her husband: Walter; four children: Eunice (John) Maxfeldt, Manitowoc; Charlene (Thomas) Slavik, Waukesha; Larry (Kathy) Peterson, Two Rivers; Craig (Carol) Peterson, Brookfield; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and one sister-in-law: Dorothy Sperber, Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Archie; and one sister: Lenore.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay, with the Rev. Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ruby's name. Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family.
