Mr. Floyd Ready, 89, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the G. V. Sonny Montgomery, V A Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 3pm -5pm Sunday at Lakewood Funeral Home, graveside services will be 2pm Monday, March 11, 2013 in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Ready was born in 1923 in Mason, Illinois, his parents were the late William Ready and Bessie Hensley Ready.

When Mr. Ready was 14 years old he joined the NACCCA. Before the war he was in the USN Armed Guard, he served our country during WWII in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Lardner and the John D. Gill. He spent 22 months in the Pacific aboard the Navy Destroyer, U.S.S. Brush DD747. He served in 7 major invasions. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

After the Navy Mr. Ready worked for the Hudson Company and 24 years with Simonds Saw and Steel, located in Fitchburg, MA. In 1977 he came south and started his own company Floyd Ready Associates manufacturing FERSCO SAWS located in Jackson, MS, he retired in 1992. He was a 33 degree Mason, a member of the Wahabi Shriners, Past President of Madison Shrine Club. He loved the outdoors, boating and gardening.

Mr. Ready was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson; Trey Wilkins, he leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Jane Reneau Ready, three sons; Terry Ready of Granby, CO., John Ready (Donna) of Shreveport, LA, Clayton Ready (Dona) of Ridgeland, one daughter; Susanne Ready Graham (Gary) of Pensacola, FL, 6 precious grandchildren, Holly Wilkins, Michael Ready, Justin Ready, Daniel Ready, Crystal Franke, and Bradley Ready, and 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his two faithful companions, his dogs, Betty and Bella.
