Sammy Silvers, age 62, a longtime Atoka, OK resident was born on Monday, January 15, 1951, to Charles and Mildred Otheta (LaVarnway) Silvers, in Merced, CA. Sammy passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 in Atoka, OK. He graduated from Atoka High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Sammy was a residential carpenter and also an Atoka police officer. Sammy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Sammy loved his dog, "Little Bit." He went everywhere with him and never left his side. Sammy enjoyed antique cars especially roadsters and streetrods. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and took pride in his woodwork and carving. Sammy was an excellent finish carpenter. Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Otheta (LaVarnway) Silvers.
