Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Obituary:

LARKIN, Robert J. Passed away peacefully on September 20, 2012, at the age of 93 years. Resident of The Milwaukee Catholic Home; former resident of Mequon and Whitefish Bay. Beloved husband of the late Mary Jeanne (Sullivan) Larkin. Loving father of Kathleen (John) Larkin Hickey, Patty (Bette Warner) Larkin, and Sheila Larkin. Proud grandfather of Meghan (Jim Totten) Hickey, John (Tanya) Hickey III, Robert Larkin Hickey, Ruby Fu Larkin Warner, and Rosa Xiaodan Larkin Warner. Adoring great grandfather of Goldie Larkin Hickey and Samson Lee Hickey. Further survived by his nieces, nephew, and other relatives and dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Ernest Larkin, O.Carm. and Rev. Jack Larkin, O.Carm., and his sister Mary Margaret Larkin. Bob's life was an example of a life well lived. His deep love for God, family, and all of humankind was a shining light of inspiration to those who knew him. He was fiercely devoted to his family and his daughters are forever grateful for his unconditional love. An early health enthusiast, Bob was an avid runner, swimmer, and cyclist committed to achieving his "personal best" until the end of his days. He is lovingly remembered as a church choir member, family camper, proud Irishman, and people person. He was happiest when his whole family was together. Bob had a talent for connecting with people wherever he went, for listening, and for learning their stories. He was a believer in community involvement and a lifelong volunteer. Bob was a third order Carmelite who began Catholic seminary studies as a high school student in Niagara, Canada. He was called home to support his family in Chicago when his father fell ill. Working days and studying nights, he eventually graduated from Marquette University. Bob was a Controller for Globe Union/Johnson Controls for over 30 years. He was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps in WWII. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Anne's Chapel of The Milwaukee Catholic Home, 2462 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place in Sheffield, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made to Marquette University, PO Box 1881, Milwaukee, WI 53201 or The Carmelite Missions, 8501 Bailey Rd., Darien, IL 60561-8418.
