Dorothy A. Helbick, age 84 of Kewaunee died Friday, August 29, 2003, at a local hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born June 29, 1919, in Kewaunee to the late Joseph & Mary (née Kustka) Berkovitz.
Dorothy worked as a local telephone switchboard operator for many years until the dial system was installed in Kewaunee. She also helped her mother in the Berkovitz Paint Store. She was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Church and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards and gardening.
Dorothy married Richard Helbick August 22, 1939, and he preceded her in death November 4, 1982.
Their survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and James Rohr, Kewaunee; Elizabeth and Daryl Sijak, Crandon; Bonnie and Donald Thor, Kewaunee; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Helbick, Green Bay. Also nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. One brother and sister-in-law: Al and Millie Berky, Kewaunee.
Friends may call after 12 Noon and until 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1 at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum.
