S. Claude Herr
BELLEFONTE - S. Claude Herr, 94, died at Park West Manor Nursing Home, State College, on Wednesday. He had been a guest there three years.
Mr. Herr, who was born April 6, 1877 at Salona, Clinton County, graduated from the Central State Normal School in Lock Haven, and had served Centre County as prothonotary from 1928 to 1936. From 1916 through 1939 he was co-owner of Herr and Heverly grocery on North Allegheny St., Bellefonte.
He was the son of Martin W. and Lydia Burrell Herr, and the husband of the former Nellie Lenore Krape, who died Oct. 1, 1961.
Surviving are three children, Richard F. Herr, Pittsburgh; Mrs. John Mullinix, Decatur, Ga.; and Ben H. Herr, Bellefonte, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Herr was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church here, Masonic bodies of Bellefonte, Altoona, and Williamsport; and the Nittany Country Club.
His funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from his church, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall R.D.
