MEETS HORRIBLE DEATH
Gun Accidentally Discharged-Plows Hole Through Abdoman.
-----
A Young Farmer Meets His Fate While Hunting.
In the presence of four of his neighbors Frank Shaub, one of Camden township's Highly respected young farmers met a horriable death while out hunting last Saturday forenoon.
Mr. Shaub, in company with Ralph Wigent, Fred Turner, Samuel Small and Charles Knapp, were hunting game in the east swamp of Fred M. Wigent's, father-in-law to Mr. Shaub. They had been out about three hours when the accident occured. Frank was on a stump leaning on his gun with the stock of the gun resting on the stump waiting for the game to be driven from the underbush, and it was at this moment when the accident happened. The gun slipped from the stump and as it fell the hammer of the gun came in contact with the stump with such force as to cause it to discharge and the entire charge of shot took effect in the young man's body, enterint at the lower part of the bowels on the left side and plowing a hole upward that was large enough to allow a man's hand to enter.
The men who were near by heard the report of the gun and at the same time heard Frank's agonizing cry for help. They rushed to his assistance and tenderly carried him to William Keller's on Clyde Chester's place, it being the nearest house as he was becoming exhausted form loss of blood. Three physicians were hastened to his assistance and did all in their medical power to stay death, but to no avail as death came about three o'clock of the afternoon of the same day. His death caused a pall of gloom to spread over this entire vicinity as no young man was more thought of than Frank Shaub; his strick attension to duty and his honest way of transacting business won for him a vast number of friends who deeply sympathized with his heart broken family in their terrible affliction.
Frank J. Shaub, youngest son of Jacob and Elizabeth Shaub, was born June 16, 1882 at Toledo, Ohio, his father preceded him the day he was two months old, meeting his death in a reilroad accident.
He removed with his family to Williams, Co., Ohio, where he spent his boyhood days. He met and latter was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Wigent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Wigent, northwest of Camden, on April 26, 1902 and to this happy union were two daughters, Crystal Marie and Ova Louise, the latter having preceeded him on Oct. 11, 1905. Mr. Shaub and family, have resided with his wife's parents all their married life, and it is said of him that he was a friend to all, and everyone was his friend.
His, was an untimely death and at the age of twenty-six years, five months and nineteen days his young manhood form was lowered into the ground there to be returned unto its maker. Peace to his ashes.
He leaves to mourn his demise, a loving companion, a daughter, mother, two brothers, four sisters, father and mother-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday at the Berry church in West Reading, burial taking place in the Burg cemetery.
