Edward Sr enjoyed many exciting and lucrative years as a die maker for the Hoover Company in Canton. In 1942, the Hoover manufacturing facilities were turned from domestic electric sweepers to the war effort. Edward was on the job two weeks before he became ill and was taken to a Hospital Clinic in Cleveland where he died 28 March 1943.
Edward's widow, Erma C Frank Balaun, died at Napa, California, 14 March 1990. The deposition and location of her remains are yet to be learned. It can be reasonably surmised however that she had gone to California with their son, Edward. He had served in the Korean conflict and returned to Canton, subsequently earning a Degree in Architecture at Cincinnati and working for a while in Canton before moving to California where he lived and worked until his death at Napa 19 September 2017. His remains were sent to Canton for burial at St John's Cemetery.
