Mr. Rhode was born February 14, 1897 at Manitowoc, son of the late John and Mary Kerscher Rhode. He married Leona Grimm, June 7, 1919 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The couple moved to Whitelaw from Two Rivers in 1927. He was a self-employed machinist and for many years operated a farm machinery business in Whitelaw. Mr. Rhode was past Secretary-Treasurer of St. Michael Church for many years. He was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Michael Church and Senior Citizens of Whitelaw. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in June of 1970. His wife preceded him in death Sept. 21, 1971.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mary Ann Rhode of Manitowoc and John and Joyce Rhode of Whitelaw; a daughter and son-in-law, Judge Carol and Rudy Haberman of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, a nephew and a niece. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the time of services. A rosary service will be 7 p.m. Friday by Father Heymen and Holy Name Society.
