FRED CHAPLIN DEAD.

Former Hammond Farmer Dies at Mrs. R[ufus] Austin's, at 3:10 A. M. Today of Heart Trouble.

Fred Chaplin, aged 66 years 9 months and 2 days, passed away at 3:10 a.m. today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rufus {Lily May} Austin, 510 South Broadway. He had suffered from heart trouble for some time and had not been down town for over a week. He was a native of England, having been born June 20, 1856.

Mr. Chaplin had lived in Kansas for 20 years, for seven years farming near Hammond and two years age he came to Fort Scott.

He is survived by nine sons and one daughter: Roy, of Napersville, Ill.; George, Fred, John, Albert, Coyle, Len, all in Bourbon county; Samuel, Downers Grove, Ill., and Mrs. Rufus Austin, of Fort Scott.

Word from relatives is awaiting before setting the time for the funeral.
