JOHN E. HAHN, a well known carpenter and a life long resident of this place, died, Saturday, at 7:40 a.m., at his home on West King street, aged 67 years, 10 months and 22 days.
Death was due to kidney trouble which, Sunday developed into pneumonia. His condition was grave since Sunday and he gradually grew weaker. He lost consciousness Friday morning, and never rallied.
He was born December 30, 1845, in the property now owned by Daniel Lesher on North Potomac avenue, near North street. While a youth he moved to the site on which Dr. J. S. Stevenson's residence stands. Potomac avenue and North street, where he lived for forty-eight years. He then moved to his residence on King street.
He was a carpenter and a contractor in Waynesboro for a good many years. He learned the trade under his grandfather, the late David Hahn, starting at the age of ten years. He worked at the trade until three years ago, when he was compelled to give up his work on account
of failing health.
Mr. Hahn was a very capable contractor and one of the most highly skilled carpenter in this place. He was always a staunch Democrat.
He was a member of the First United Brethren church. He had a large number of friends.
Mr. Hahn's last illness was his first. He had never been confined to his bed for as long as fifteen minutes by sickess.
Surviving are his widow, these children, Charles Hahn and Miss Cora Hahn, at home and George W. Hahn, East North street, and one brother and one sister, David Hahn and Mrs. Charlotte Duffey, both of this place.Funeral Tuesday 10 a.m., services in First Unite Brethren church conducted by Rev. Dr. J. L. Crumm. Interment in Green Hill Cemetery.
