Mrs. Mary Vogel, 92, widow of John Vogel, pioneer residents of Manitowoc County, died at the home of her son, Bernard, route 1, Cato last night.
Nee Mary Spaeth, she was born in Ohio in 1853, and ten years later moved to Wisconsin. She was married to Mr. Vogel in 1874, and the couple immediately established their home on a farm. In 1933 the Vogels observed their Diamond wedding anniversary. Mr. Vogel preceded his wife just 11 years ago.
The body will be removed to the Bernard Vogel home Sunday afternoon from Pfeffer's Funeral parlors. A solemn requiem high mass will be said for the deceased at St. Michael's Catholic church at Whitelaw, the Rev. John Husslein as celebrant. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.
Mrs. Vogel is survived by five sons and six daughters, Sisters M. Walburga of the Holy Family hospital and M. Robert of Neopit, Wis.; John of Chicago, Louis and Bernard of route 1, Cato, Frank route 1, Manitowoc, Richard of route 2, Manitowoc; Mrs. Charles Brandel of route 1, Cato, Mrs. Daniel Geiger of route 2, Brillion, Mrs. Peter Holschbach of Route 5, Manitowoc and Mrs. Reinhard Klingeisen of route 4, Manitowoc. Sixty-nine grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Vogel was a member of the Christian Mothers Alter society, and the group will meet to pray the rosary.
