Heart Attack Claims life of Richard Bounds

Richard E. Bounds, 87 year old retired farmer, of Weathersby, was fatally stricken by a heart attack in Magee Saturday afternoon near O. L. Stephen's Store. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Magee General Hospital.

He had returned from the election for a member of the Magee School Board of Trustees and was standing on the corner talking to friends when the attack occurred, according to witnesses. He was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church and a member of Oak Hill Lodge No. 553, of Magee.

Services were conducted Monday morning at 10 o'clock from the Goodwater Baptist Church, in Smith County, with Rev. G. O. Parker officiating, assisted by Rev. C. S. Moulder of Hattiesburg and Rev. Herrington.

Survivors include three sons, Rev. R. C. Bounds, Weathersby; Carvey Bounds, Magee; Paul Bounds, Hattiesburg; one daughter, Mrs. Guy Barr, Mendenhall, Rt. 4; one brother, Alonzo Bounds, Forest; one sister, Mrs. Tempa Thornton, Louin; twenty four grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Interment was in Goodwater cemetery under the direction of Mims Mitchell Funeral Home.
