Leo F. Kahl, age 78, of 2350 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Woodland Health Care Center, Brookfield.
He was born on July 6, 1928 in Menominee, Mich., son of the late Leo and Edna (Kummel) Kahl. Leo served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Quartermaster. On April 16, 1955, he married the former Ione Bergquist at Wesley Methodist Church, Manitowoc. Leo worked for the carferry, SS Badger, as a chef. He later worked at the Manitowoc Company as chief of security until his retirement in 1987. Leo was a past member of the Elks Lodge 687. He was an avid Packer fan, loved gardening, and spending winters in Alabama with Ione and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arthur and Viola Bergquist; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Frank and June Kowalski; John Bergquist, William Bergquist; Jack and Betty Liebly; and Violet Neuman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Bob Beehner with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Graveside military rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post 99. The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
